Josef

Josef is getting big - I know it happens to all of my kids...but he is in a cute (most of the time) stage.  He says the cutest things.  The other day he was in his zip up pajamas, and he had it zipped down.  He must of noticed he looking at him, so he said, "mom there is hotness in here, and I am letting it out!"
Josef has the same sense of styles as his brothers...he loves dark socks with shorts, and his shoes on the wrong feet!
Unfortunately, right now a lot of what he says I don't want to record or remember.  I am sot sure where he hears some of this stuff, but it is not nice.  He tells me multiple times a day, "I wish I never had you...", and his tone of voice is often such that I struggle not laughing.  Then, when he has calmed down, he tells me how much he loves me...

Pinewood Derby

Wilson had his first Pinewood Derby!  He and Ken went over to Ken's Asst. Scoutmaster, Jason, for help.  He builds pinewood cars and races them as a hobby.  Jason won the state championship, and sends his cars all of the US to race.  He has a full track in his basement.  Jason worked with Wilson on the design, and taught him some physics to go along with it.  Ken and Wilson had a great time building it together.  Wilson also won the Most Patriotic Award, he named his car American Flames!

Wilson's car came in second place overall.  Each car raced 12 times, twice in each lane.  The track is hooked up to a computer system that tracks all of the times, and speeds.  Wilson's car ran consistently at 234 mph.  The winner's car ran consistently at 236 mph.
The best part of this video is watching Holden sitting on the side of the track, he and Josef had so much fun watching the races!

This is the first of many pinewood derby's for the Portlock family!

Love of Country

Wilson had his Second Grade program today.  He did a great job!  He was in the Second grade program last year too since he was in a first/second grade class.  I love the patriotic music, I am grateful he is being taught to love his country!
They had all the veterans, and active military stand, Wilson was so excited that his dad got to stand up and be recognized.

Hike to Flag Rock

Wilson is right under the flag with his thumbs up!

Ken, Wilson, and the scouts climb flag rock in Farmington.  It was a pretty hard hike, and Ken was impressed with Wilson...he did not complain once.  The flag is a memorial for 9/11, it is the same height as the North Tower.  What a beautiful view of Farmington!

Mac 'N Cheese

Aurora has become a very independent eater - she likes to do it all by herself!  This afternoon I gave her some macaroni and cheese, she was a fan of eating it herself.  She just quietly sat there while all of the boys ate, and I cleaned the kitchen...she was just happy...

Kangarooster

Wilson had a piano recital today.  He played Kangarooster, and did a fantastic job!  Wilson loves to "play" piano, not "practice"!  He plays everyday, and has figured out how to play parts of some of his favorite songs...Charlie Brown, Harry Potter, and One Direction, What Makes You Beautiful!

Most of the students with their teacher, Suzie Rawlings.
Before the recital with his buddies Carter & Ethan!

Aurora

Time sure does fly!  I look at these pictures, and they all seem like it was just yesterday!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was great,  the boys made me breakfast.  Heidi and Dane came over to visit in the morning, and then we went to church.  The boys sang in Sacramenting (Josef just stood there, and looked cute!)  We had dinner at Bart & Shell's with cousins! The weather was warm, and beautiful...what more could I ask for...

Popsicles

We worked in the yard most of the day, and then we enjoyed popsicles together!  There is nothing better than sitting in the shade eating a popsicles with these cuties.  Aurora got her first taste, and her face was blue by the time the Ken's popsicle was gone!

Kindergarten Program

Holden had his Kindergarten program.  We got a seat in the second row, but Holden was sitting on the other side of the stage, so I had to really zoom in to see him.  He had a speaking part, and some how I messed it up, and didn't get it record.  Holden did a great job speaking, so everyone could hear and understand.  He said, "I can spell lots of words, but I can't spell hippopotamus!"
Singing the school song!
Holden has learned so much this year.  He is a great student, and loves school.  I think his favorite part of school is recess...that does not surprise me at all!
The program really wore Aurora out, she was glad her dad was there to hold her.

Oh, how this daddy adores his little girl!

Big Brother

This morning, I thought Wilson was in his room getting dressed, and I heard Aurora waking up, so I went in to get her.  There was Wilson in her bed with her, reading her books.  It was so sweet to see the love Wilson has for his little sister.  Aurora was not just sitting quietly and listening, she was all over him and the books!  I hope Wilson always loves her this much, but I am afraid when she is about three, he might start getting irritated with her, so for right now I will just enjoy this:)

Holden

Luke and Holden were playing TinTin on the wii, sometimes they push the wrong button when they are setting the game up, and they end up playing the game in French.  Holden said to Luke, "you know my
Grandpa could teach me French.  When he was a little boy, he lived in French...well, Belgium."
Holden remembers everything, sometimes not the whole story, but the bits and pieces that interest him.  Yes, Grandpa could teach time French, but he learned French in Canada.  Grandpa did not learn French in Belgium!  He learned Flemish in Belgium, and French in Canada....

Clean Laundry

I was washing dishes, and I could hearing Aurora just laughing and screeching with delight.  She was playing with clean laundry.  Earlier, I had to rescue her, because she had fallen head first into this laundry basket.  This basket kept her entertained for at least 30 minutes.  Little does she know how much of that "fun stuff" she will be folding in the future!
